Ahhh, summer has finally arrived and the cars are coming out of a long winter’s storage. Here is the information on this year’s car show here at VW Credit, Inc. We would love to see you again! VW Credit, Inc will host it's 5th annual car show and picnic on Friday, July 15 from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm. Lunch will be provided to participants. The show will be held in Libertyville, IL at the VW Credit, Inc facility. This will be a judged show with fabulous prizes. In light of the special "Featured Marque" for VWs this year, Common Gear Antique VW Society has also obtained some *special commemorative incentives*, to be able to hand out to properly-registered participating Antique Volkswagens in Time Machines 2011 car show. There are only *75 pieces* of these special commemorative incentives, and *they will be handed out to the first 75 Antique VWs to get there, and get themselves properly registered and onto the show field, within the Featured Marque class* (this does not include flea market vehicles and also does not include VWs that may have chosen to register into some other car show class). The Time Machines 2011 car show is *rain or shine*, as it has always been, so “I had best intentions of being there” is not going to cut it--sorry. The day begins with a cruise through the historic West side of our beautiful city. We will meet in the parking lot of the shopping area located at 1466 Garden of the Gods Road. Take exit 146 off of Interstate 25, head West (towards the mountains) 1.3 miles and the shopping area will be on your right. We will begin assembling cars for the cruise at 10 AM with a departure time of 10:30 sharp(ish). The cruise will wind through some of the scenic routes our city has to offer with our destination being the Brewery. Bring your camera as there will be some not to be missed opportunities for photographs! Bristol's Brewing is located at 1647 South Tejon Street, take exit 140 (Tejon Street) off of Interstate 25, South on Tejon 0.3 miles and the Brewery will be on your left. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon perusing some of the finest VW's in Colorado at this non-judged event. There will be music provided by DJ Dirty of The Syndicate as well as a live band. The Event location is on the Black Canyon Lake Road which is also known as FR300. The turn off is 500 feet East of mile marker 291 on the right hand side of the road coming East from Payson. The Event will be about 1 mile in on your right. Look for the signs guiding you in. We will be having a Soap Art Contest with Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We will be having a Best Campsites Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We will be having a Cornhole Tournament with Awards for the 1st and 2nd place teams. Kids Raffle. 2 Adults Raffles, 1 on Saturday evening and 1 on Sunday morning after the Awards are handed out. There will be plenty of clean J-Johns. 600 gallon fresh water tank for all to use. RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS: PLEASE, NO BEER BOTTLES, BABY DIAPERS, or TRASH to be put in the J-Johns. We have to pay extra for this to be removed from them. All dogs are to kept on a leash even in your Campsite. No exceptions. If we have to tell you more than once, you will be asked to leave. No ATV's ALLOWED AT ALL. This is a rule set forth by the Forest Service, NOT US. Quiet time is from 10 pm until 6 am. PLEASE be respectful of your fellow campers as this is a family Event and there will be kids there. This is a PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT camp out. Which means you bring it with you, you take it back with you. This Event will be held the weekend after the Flagstaff KOA meet, so why not make a week of it and come on over and have a nice relaxing time with good folks. Volksfest is the Largest Non-Judged VW-Only Event In Canada. It is held once a year in bautiful Downtown Embrun, Ontario, Canada. Venue Hidden Valley Event Park, Irvine, CA. The venue was once a Wild Animal Theme Park called Lion Country Safari Park. It actually shares the same parking lot as VW Classic, just hidden away in the corner, thus it's name Hidden Valley. The park was shut down in the late 70's and the land was preserved by the Irvine Company. The original man made lake, tiki hut's, bridges, amphitheater and other structures were also preserved and ever since the venue has been primarily used for corporate events and used as a sumemer camp with limited use for a few annual events. The venue is second to none and provides the perfect backdrop for a car show with it's winding roads, tree's and tons and tons of grass for car display's. Food & Drinks Over 10 food vendors will be brought in featuring Smokey's BBQ, Kogi Beef Wagon, Mexican food, Hamburgers & Hot Dog's, German food, Asian and more and more BBQ. Each vendor is able to handle their share of the crowds, so there will be no long lines or waits and everyone will be able to get to food easily & have their choice of the wide variety of it. Bathrooms There are existing bathroom facilities (non porto let) and plenty of porto let style restrooms available. No fighting to get into a bathroom and if you absolutely have to have somethin other than the porto let's regular bathrooms are available. Seating & Shade Over 400 seats are available in the centralzed Oktoberfest Garden that are completely shaded. This area is located next to the food court so you can easily get your food and drinks and then take a load off while listening to our Authentic German bands. In addition to those 400 seats, there is scattered seating throughout the venue all in shaded locations that will seat another 200 and if you want, you can simply sit on the grass under any one of the hundreds of tree's and picnic. Entertainment The event will feature two stages. The main stage will featue local 80's and 90's covere bands playing throughout the day. The main stage wil also feature the bikini contest. The other stage is located in the Oktoberfest Garden and will feature Authentic German bands and music playing throughout the day. Bikini Contest Carnival The carnival area featrures paddle boats to go out on the man made lake, Ferris Wheel, Rock O' Plane, Rock Climbing Wall, Go Kart track, Kiddie planes, cars and other kiddie carnival rides. Games will also be available along with pace painters and playground area. As you can see, we have a number of rides for adults and children. Old Skool BMX Show They just do not make BMX Bikes like they used to. This Old Skool BMX show that has bee happening for the past 5 year's is now being integrated into our event. This all Volkswagen show will be held August 28th 2011 at D'Arcy Volkswagen of Joliet, 2521 West Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois. Registration starts at 9am., participant judging from noon -1pm, awards at 3pm. Show Car registration is $15. 1st 100 registered will receive goody bags, dash plaques and show t-shirts. Swap spaces are also available for $15 per 10X20 space. 50/50 raffle and door prizes. For children big and small there will be a commercial sized jumper and "Manny" The Chalk-a-Bug. Food will be grilled up by the folks at D'Arcy Volkswagen with chips and sodas, asking for donations only. Drew Walker from US 99 will be at the mic and playing music. Awards will be for the Top 15, Best of Show, D'Arcy's Choice, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine and Rust Bucket. Indoor restroom will be available. This year will be extra special as the Club Members of Harsh Winters have been working real hard for the past year restoring a Sea Blau 1965 Volkswagen Beetle and are currently selling raffle tickets for it right now for $10 each. when: Friday September 2nd thru Monday September 5th, 2011 where: the entire "group" campground at the Indian Creek Recreational Area located right on huge Mark Twain Lake, which is about 30 miles west of Hannibal, Missouri. Any and all VW's are welcome to enjoy this BNNTA family-oriented camping event. Featuring VW camping on a 22 mile long lake, an informal VW Bus show, a fun and highly competitive best individual and best group campsite decoration contest, a scenic countryside caravan on Saturday over to discover the sights of historic Hannibal, MO (the childhood hometown right on the Mississsippi River of Samuel Clemens, a.k.a. "Mark Twain"), show awards and door prizes, campfire activities, etc. Our campground is lakeside, so bring your watertoys (canoes, kayaks, etc.). BNNTA is held in a beautiful Corp of Engineers built/managed campground with very nice facilities, clean bathrooms and nice shower facilities, a playground and a huge pavilion for our sole use. We restrict access to the campground to only VWs, so you won't wake up in the morning staring at the side of a motorhome, just the beautiful sight of VWs of all types sprawling off into the distance! The "total" event/camping fee for each VW for the entire four day weekend is only $30. Yep! A total of only $30! Oh! Our venue is located at the historic Gold King Mine just 5 minutes up the hill from the city of Jerome. Don’t miss out. This year’s events include such offerings as our annual live pet contest, VW-related body art contest, slow drags, children’s activities and the always awesome chili cook-off. Saturday night there will be a groovy 70’s disco dance and costume contest in the stage area so break out those bellbottoms and love beads. There will be raffles galore and whatever else we can dream up between now and then. Mr. Bus Burger will be serving up burgers and dogs near the front gate. Vendors may set up on Vendor Row for a small additional fee and all campers are welcome to swap from their campsites. The ABC caravan will head out of Phoenix on Friday morning. It is legendary and it could change your life. What is cool about this area is that there are trails right off of the camp ground. Some of the trails are overgrown and narrow. If you are afraid of getting "pin stripping" on your shiny paint you have been forewarned! For VW Syncro owners, some of these trails will be rocky and challenging. I will rate trails in advance. Some trails will REQUIRE that you have lockers and 930 CV joints installed in the rear. If you don't have them you won't run period. I don't want trail runs help up because of broken axles and CV's. The event will have trail runs on Friday and Saturday. One day would be running the trails that are close to the base camp. For the larger vehicles some trails can take 3 to 4 hours. The campground has an amphitheater for gathering or a couple of sites could be used for Steyr Puch central. The camp has no showers but they are available at another camp about 20 minutes away. This camp has over 90 sites and 50 can be reserved. The weather in Mammoth lakes that time of year is a perfect 70 degrees. There is also a Hot Springs just the other side of Hwy 395. For the camp sites people would reserver their own. Cost per night is less than $20 plus tax. Some sites have deep enough parking that two vehicles could split the cost for an extra $7. In mid Sept the tourist season is over. When we drove by the campgrounds on Saturday morning the camp grounds were completely empty. Friday night will be Pizza dinner (no host) at a local sports bar in town. Saturday night will be a catered on site BBQ tri tip and chicken dinner. Cost of the event is going to depend on how many sign up and how many meals people want catered. Catering runs about $20 per person per meal. That is for the BBQ dinner. I will see if I can get a good price for breakfast if there is enough interest. So initially I am estimating the cost to register at $30 per person for the Saturday night dinner, a dash plaque and misc. You will be responsible for reserving your camp site and paying for it. This is a “FREE” event held on Friday night September 23, 2011. The streets downtown will be closed for this event between the hours of 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM to allow Volkswagen enthusiasts to take ownership of the downtown area. We start setting up at 12:00 Noon. This show starts at 4:00 PM - However, if you want a good spot, you will need to come early - WE WILL FILL THE STREETS – Last year we had record attendance and car participation from six different states! Make sure you visit the police and fire station and don’t forget the train station! Stop by the barber shop and stop in and see a movie while eating popcorn at the Isis Theater! The 2011 busses and balloons XV, we have decided to move it up to the first weekend of the Balloon Fiesta, October 2011. This is the 1st and 2ND of October 2011. B&B XV Schedule of events for 2011 is as follows. Sunday, December 04, 2011 – Once again Jingle Bugs Rock will be held at Old Town's Shopping, Dining, & Entertainment Complex located in beautiful Kissimmee, Florida one mile east of I-4 on U.S. Hwy. 192. Last year was just about rained out but we still had a good turn-out and one of the best day’s ever! We had more cars decorated for the holidays, we had great club participation, and more toys brought than any other year. As a matter of fact, we actually filled two 7 ton Marine trucks by the end of the day. And as usual, we had plenty of gifts to hand out at the end of the day along with Santa who showed up just in time to cruise in the bright red convertible brought by David Maus Volkswagen. This year’s event will be held on December 04, 2011, one week earlier than usual and is planned to run from 12:00 to 6:00pm. We have plenty of room for those who want to have a swap meet or sell VW related items and of course you can bring that car you have for sale as well. This is a charity event and entry for show participants is simple; bring a new unwrapped toy. Of course we encourage everyone to bring as many toys as possible for the children and there will be a small fee for those selling parts, etc..
